How to deal with procrastination during UPSC preparation?

Are you an IAS aspirant who knows what it takes to succeed in the exam but can't seem to put in the effort? It's time to change that. Many aspirants know what it takes to succeed, but only a few actually put in the effort and get selected. Don't be one of those who let fear, lack of confidence, or procrastination hold them back.

You know that writing practice helps in Mains, but you keep postponing it. You tell yourself that you will acquire knowledge first and then attempt the questions, but that day may never come. You know that solving mock papers for prelims helps, but you avoid doing them. Stop procrastinating and start taking action today.

When you feel like postponing a task, ask yourself why. Is the reason logical and valid? Will you really utilize your time better if you postpone the task? If you constantly postpone doing something, it will accumulate and act as a big burden on you.

Don't worry about what you couldn't do in the past. Focus on what you can do now. Build momentum, improve your speed, and take on pending tasks one by one whenever you find time.

You have a dream to become an IAS/IPS/IFS officer, and you know what it takes to achieve that dream. There is no excuse for not doing what it takes. You need a strong will, a good study environment, and proper guidance. Willpower comes from within, and it will come when you realize that this is a competition. If you run slow, someone else will run fast and stand on the podium.

Don't panic. Time is still with you. From today, do what needs to be done to make dreams a reality. Don't postpone tasks and add mental pressure on yourself. Take rest on Sundays and work hard for the rest of the week. Try to enjoy your work and be happy while preparing for the exam. This exam helps you shape your personality for the better. It tests your character, makes you humble, and teaches you patience. Every up and down you face is for your own good. If you fall, get up as fast as possible and keep moving.

Make a resolution to not break the resolutions you have already made. Do justice to your ambitions. Don't let fear, lack of confidence, or procrastination hold you back. Take action today and make your dreams come true.
